As part of the activities of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the National Leading Cancer Research Center organized an important seminar titled ‘Awareness of Cervical Cancer’ at the Women’s Studies Center at the University of Baghdad. The seminar addressed the causes of cervical cancer, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early detection.
The discussion focused on the HPV virus as a major cause of cancer, highlighting its transmission methods and the significance of early detection in diagnosing the disease in its early stages.
In an active discussion session, Ass. Prof. Kawakeb Najm Al-Din Abdullah, the Director of the center answered attendees’ questions and noted the examination’s clinics locations in the Iraqi hospitals
This event is a part of the center’s efforts to raise awareness about breast and cervical cancer. The seminar concluded by Dr. Kawakeb N. Abdullah emphasizing the importance of providing the HPV vaccine as a part of the strategy against violence against women, considering its crucial role as a main factor in cases of cervical cancer.”
